How long does an unopened bottle of wine keep?
The question often arises: how long does red wine keep? The answer depends on multiple factors, including the wine's aging potential, storage conditions, and even the type of bottle. For our red wine, we recommend aging it for 3 to 5 years. For our white wine Chapitre de Blanc, a 2-year rest is usually more than enough to achieve perfect balance.
Red wine: King of longevity
For red wine lovers, the aging time of a wine can be a rewarding game of anticipation. Our Cuvée Sous la Robe promises a full bouquet after 4 to 5 years. But be careful, how long to keep a red wine is not an exact science; you also have to listen to your heart and sometimes let yourself be guided by desire.
What is the shelf life of unopened white wine?
Unlike reds, most rosé and white wines are not intended for long aging. For example, our Rosé will be at its peak in its first year. These wines are made to capture the youth and vibrancy of fruits, so there's no need to age them for too long!
What is the shelf life of bag-in-box wine?
Bag-in-box (BIB) wine affects the storage time compared to bottles. BIBs are practical, but designed for rather quick consumption. That's why we recommend drinking it within 6 months of purchase and 2 weeks after opening.
How to store wine in a cellar?
- The ideal storage temperature is around 12°C.
- Bottles should be stored horizontally.
- Humidity must be sufficient to prevent corks from drying out.
- Avoid vibrations and store your bottles away from direct light.
