The different competitions our award-winning wines take part in

The Independent Winemakers Competition

This competition brings together over 5,000 samples and over 1,000 tasters. It is a competition in which only winemakers who produce and vinify their own wines compete. The tastings are entrusted to informed amateurs, trained by the Independent Winemakers in competition tasting (tasting mechanisms and vocabulary). Tasters are recruited from various oenology clubs, passionate amateurs and regulars at Independent Winemakers' trade fairs, thus reinforcing the independence and credibility of the results.

The General Agricultural Competition

A benchmark in the wine world, the Concours Général Agricole is based on a strict evaluation process. A pre-selection is first carried out in each region, with a final in Paris. The jury is made up of experts, producers, oenologists, sommeliers and informed consumers. The judges will make their evaluation based on different criteria:

  • Aromas.
  • Typicity.
  • Overall quality.

The medals awarded represent a level of quality and not a ranking. If the wine is not deemed qualitative enough, no medal is awarded.

The Ligiers Competition

Created in 1995, this competition celebrates the wine production from Clermont-Ferrand to Nantes every year. 2,000 wines are presented, all from the terroirs and appellations found along the Loire. The jury is made up of 50 people from the Association des Œnologues Ligériens (mostly oenologists).

The Hachette Wine Guide

With 40,000 wines tasted every year, the jury of the Hachette Wine Guide is mainly composed of winemakers and oenologists. The wines to be rewarded are tasted blind and are rated from 0 to 3 stars. Those that receive one star are selected to appear in the new edition of the Hachette Wine Guide, published annually. 500 "coups de cœur" (favorites) are also awarded by the Guide, sometimes in lesser-known and cheaper appellations.

The Lyon International Competition

A benchmark competition held at the Cité Internationale de Lyon, it is open to wines from all over the world. The tastings are conducted blind, under the control of the general commissioner and an independent inspector, by judges comprising wine professionals and amateurs. The evaluation follows a 100-point scale inspired by the OIV (International Organisation of Vine and Wine). The distinctions only have two levels: Gold and Silver. This competition is recognized by the DGCCRF for the affixing of medals on labels and is ISO 9001 certified.
